Phex is a file-sharing application that works on the Gnutella network. There are gazillions of applications that you can use for sharing your files. However, once in a while, I find an application that offers a little more than the rest. I might be talking out of ignorance, but I had never seen an application offer the possibility of creating sub-networks that can only be accessed by the users that you choose. Also, Phex allows you to share your file-list with your friends, so they know exactly what you have. This can be done in other applications, I know. From the graphic's side, the application went for the tabbed interface, which has proven to be successful. You start a search and a new tab is created so that you can go back to the results at any time. From what I could gather in the little time I spent with this review, popular searches returned many sources. Downloads should be fast and the material that is available should not contain many fakes. Of course, there are steps that you can take to avoid downloading fakes. I will give this application some Kudoz for being really stable and not containing any spyware. The newest version available is 3.2.106. This review focuses on version 3.2. |
